Keyword Research

Enter a seed keyword to see Google Suggest completions and question-style variations. ZTools' URL proxy fetches the suggestions. The tool then groups them as direct, question, or longer phrases. You don't need an AI provider key. Your plan's monthly keyword-search limit applies. The tool doesn't report measured search volume or a verified difficulty score, and it has no language or region selector.

Growth Suite

Keyword Research is part of Growth Suite. Sign in to see its current allowance and any connection or provider key it needs. Limits vary by plan; a limited Free plan is available.

Use cases

Plan a topic cluster

Enter a seed term and review the phrases Google Suggest returns. Use a relevant question as a starting point for a page, then verify demand separately.

Find customer wording

Run a product or service term and compare the returned modifiers with your own customer language. The tool does not rank them by search volume.

Prepare a content brief

Copy relevant phrases into a brief, then check demand and competition in a separate data source before committing a budget.

How it works

  1. Enter a seed keyword — Type a seed term. The current screen has no language or region control.
  2. Query Google Suggest — The tool sends the seed through ZTools' URL proxy to Google Suggest and reads any returned completions.
  3. Expand variations — The tool queries Google Suggest for the seed and seven prefixed variations: how to, what is, why is, when to, where to, best, and vs. It does not expand a–z.
  4. Group returned phrases — It deduplicates the returned phrases and labels them direct, question, or long-tail. It does not score difficulty.
  5. Review and copy — Review the phrases and copy the ones you want. Export is a copied text list, not a volume report.

Examples

Input: Seed: container queries

Output: A list of Google Suggest phrases, if Google returns them, grouped as direct, question, or long-tail.

Input: Seed: project management

Output: The copied list contains the returned phrases only.

Frequently asked questions

Is Keyword Research free, or does it cost money?

You can use Keyword Research on the Free plan within its monthly search limit. Paid Growth plans may raise that limit; the current amount is shown in ZTools. You don't need a separate AI provider account for this tool.

Does it show exact monthly search volume and keyword difficulty?

No. It returns suggestions from Google Suggest, without measured search volume or a verified difficulty score.

Do I need an API key or an Ahrefs/Semrush subscription to use it?

No AI provider key is needed. ZTools' URL proxy fetches suggestions from Google Suggest; your plan's monthly search limit applies.

Where do the keyword ideas come from?

The phrases come from Google Suggest requests for your seed and fixed prefixed variations. Google may return no suggestions. ZTools doesn't know search volume or why Google returned a phrase.

Does it score difficulty?

No. The current results contain phrases and a simple group label, not a difficulty estimate. Check competition in a separate source if it matters to your decision.

Do my seed terms stay private?

ZTools' URL proxy sends the seed and prefixed variations to Google Suggest. This is a live provider request, so don't treat a seed as device-only data.

Can I choose a language or region?

The current tool has no language or region control. Google Suggest may return suggestions affected by its own request context, so don't treat these results as a country-specific keyword report.

Tips

  • Start with a seed that matches the subject you plan to cover.
  • Review the question group for phrases that match questions your readers actually ask.
  • Use a comparison suggestion only when it fits your subject; the tool does not measure commercial intent.
  • Validate search volume and competition elsewhere before budgeting work.
  • Copy returned phrases into your own list and remove duplicates across separate searches.
